Cullman County, Alabama Museum

The Cullman County Museum is housed in a replica of Col. Johann G. Cullmann's home. Packed with interesting artifacts spanning two centuries, the campus of the Museum offers items of interest too. From the deck of our sprawling front porch you will see a towering statue of our founding father, the town gazebo, historic plaques from former city buildings, a restored depot and one of our many city parks.

Gazebo

To the side of the Museum, the gazebo is also a replica of the one at the original home of Col. Johann Cullmann. Today it is a popular site for weddings and concerts.

Col. Johann G. Cullman Statue

Located just outside the Cullman County Museum is a towering state of our founding father. The brass statue was crafted by sculptor Branko Madenica, an artist who is responsible for many statues in Alabama, including the statue of Jesse Owens in the Jesse Owens Park in Lawrence County.

Cullman Railroad Depot

Once used for passenger and freight service, this fully restored depot is local across the street from the Cullman County Museum.

It is named as a Historic Landmark on the National Register of Historic Places. The depot is open Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Self-guided tours are available, at no charge.

Depot Park

Depot Park is a popular place for walkers, joggers, outdoor musical concerts and arts and crafts fairs.

Weiss Cottage

Weiss Cottage is Cullman's oldest home and is located four blocks south of the Cullman County Museum. It is furnished with typical 19th Century items and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

Weiss Cottage is open by appointment only. Free admission. For information on tours, call (256) 739-1258.
